El Padrino is a son of Pulpit, a talented colt who saw his horse betting career cut short by injury. Pulpit won 4-of-6 career races, including the Fountain of Youth Stakes-G2 and the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes-G2. He finished fourth in the 1997 Kentucky Derby. In the breeding shed Pulpit has produced more than sixty stakes winners, including nearly 35 graded stakes winners.

Enchanted Rock raced only one time, finishing 10th in a maiden race at Belmont Park. She is a half-sister to a pair of Grade II winners. El Padrino is her first foal to race.

El Padrino has been highly regarded from the horse betting start. He was the 19/10 betting favorite in his career debut on August 20, 2011 at Saratoga, and rallied from way back to miss by less than one length while racing seven furlongs.

Rested until October 29 at Belmont Park, El Padrino came back over a sloppy track at one mile and demolished the horse betting field, pulling away by nearly 13 lengths under a hand ride. That easy win earned a shot at graded stakes company.

On November 26, El Padrino saddled up for the Remsen Stakes-G2 at Aqueduct, and he was sent away the 5/2 horse betting favorite in his first attempt at nine furlongs. He couldn’t get the job done this day, but was beaten less than one length for the top horse betting spot.

El Padrino wasn’t seen again until January 29 at Gulfstream Park, when he came back with an impressive allowance horse betting victory over the classy Take Charge Indy. Racing over a “good” racetrack, El Padrino earned a big 100 Beyer Speed Figure for his horse betting effort.

With Todd Pletcher having an abundance of top three-year-olds in his barn at Gulfstream Park, El Padrino would hit the road for his next horse betting start. Sent over to Fair Grounds for the Risen Star Stakes-G2 on February 25, El Padrino would not go unnoticed by the bettors, who sent him away the 4/5 horse betting favorite. Showing true heart, and the horse betting ability to handle travel and a new racetrack, El Padrino survived a stretch-long horse betting battle with Mark Valeski to earn a narrow win, stamping himself as one of the leading horse betting contenders for the Kentucky Derby.

El Padrino is expected to make his final Kentucky Derby horse betting prep in the Louisiana Derby-G2 or Florida Derby-G1.
