Alpha is from the second crop of Bernardini, champion three-year-old of 2006. He won the Preakness Stakes-G1, Travers-G1 and Jockey Club Gold Cup-G1. He has produced major stakes horse betting winners Gamilati, Algorithms, Stay Thirsty and To Honor and Serve. Bernardini’s world-class sire, A. P. Indy, won the Belmont Stakes-G1 and Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1, and his “grandsire” was the great Seattle Slew, Triple Crown winner in 1977.

Munnaya won one of four career horse betting starts while racing in England. In addition to Alpha she has produced multiple Group III winner Mystic Melody and multiple Grade II-placed Lavender Sky. Her sire is the great Nijinky II, last winner of the English Triple Crown.

Alpha began his horse betting career at Saratoga on September 3, 2011. Not strongly backed by bettors at 6/1 odds in a seven furlong sprint, Alpha immediately displayed his horse betting talent with a dominant six-length victory.

Following his impressive horse betting debut, Alpha instantly jumped into graded stakes company on October 8 at Belmont Park, overcoming a rough trip to finish second behind Union Rags in the Champange Stakes-G1 at one mile.

Alpha earned a horse betting trip to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-G1 at Churchill Downs in early November, but little went right in that race. He appeared unsettled in front of the big crowd, was fractious at the gate and never seemed intent on running. He ended the horse betting season with a disappointing 11th-place finish.

After two months of rest and relaxation following the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Alpha was back home in New York and ready for action. He returned in the $150,000 Count Fleet Stakes at Aqueduct on January 7, and was an easy horse betting winner as the 4/5 horse betting favorite. This was his first race with lasix, and his first race under jockey Ramon Dominguez.

Four weeks later, on February 4, Alpha was back in the winner’s circle again, dominating the Withers Stakes-G3 at Aqueduct as the 3/10 horse betting favorite. This victory solidified his spot atop the three-year-old division in New York.

Following the Withers Stakes Alpha was sent to south Florida to train for his final Kentucky Derby prep, which is expected to be either the Wood Memorial-G1 at Aqueduct or Florida Derby-G1 at Gulfstream Park.Triple Crown previews, race recaps and wagering are always available in the racebook at Bookmaker.
